Fred Young - Lead Pastor

His life story: "Leave It To Beaver" childhood, happily married with wonderful kids, and following Christ

The things he's good at include being a husband and father and cooking chili

He's passionate about helping people discover and develop in Christ, and his wife and family

The things he loves:  Jesus, his wife Laura, his kids, La Fuentes, Diet Dr. Pepper, summer evenings and summer mornings, feeling the summer breeze as he rides his motorcycle, and being the Pastor of East Side Baptist Church

The things he hates:  Being late, snakes, Olive Garden, liver, vegetables

He enjoys watching The Andy Griffith Show, Fox News, political debates, and Secondhand Lions

His heroes are Jerry Falwell, Ronald Reagan, his friend and mentor Ron Sears, Jerry Thorpe, and his mom and dad

About his kids: they have brought more joy to his life than he had ever imagined

Random Fred Fact:  He and his wife Laura were high school sweethearts who originally didn't like each other......then they got married right out of high school.

Mike Gonzales - Executive Pastor

Among other things, Mike loves teaching, being married, and working for God full time

David Grimm - Worship Pastor

He enjoys watching American Idol, Star Wars, Lost, The Office, and any Christmas movie.

Dave also likes to read, travel, and spend time with his wife and daughter.

Things that he's passionate about include his family, his ministry, fishing, and playing piano.

Random Dave fact:  He only drinks Starbucks Coffee.

Dave and his wife Marla have one daughter.

Mike Schnelle - Spiritual Formation Pastor

What makes him laugh:  Old Jerry Lewis movies, the Andy Griffith show, corny jokes, our Family Pastor Don Claphan.

For fun, Mike likes to
Fish, play family wiffle ball, go to his kid’s ballgames, school plays, concerts, and watch St. Louis Cardinal’s Baseball, and Kansas City Chief’s football.

Mike hates
the Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys.

He is good at
leading and equipping people to serve, teaching and encouragement, supporting and working with our Lead Pastor and the rest of the staff.

He is passionate about: Growing to be like Jesus, his family, and helping others grow in Christ.

Random Mike fact:  He grew up riding Foxtrotter horses on his grandfather's farm.

He enjoys watching: Action movies, Bill O'Reilly, & Glenn Beck.

Don Claphan - Family Pastor

For fun, Don likes to shoot guns, golf, play video games, and watch movies.

Don is good at working with people, acting, planning events, and vision.

Don's TV faves include all the CSIs, Deal or No Deal, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?, and American Gladiators.  His movie faves are Gladiator, Tombstone, comedies, and action movies.

Don met his wife when his sister's roommate needed a date.  They ended up falling in love and getting married.

He loves his God, his family, his church, and his friends.

He hates birds and beets.

Random Don fact:  He's the guy you see wearing crazy looking hats on Sundays.

Phil Hopkins - Student Pastor

Passions: Serving Jesus. Reaching students. Detroit sports & Michigan Football.

What I watch: The Office, LOST, ESPN and an occasional movie with my wife.

About me: I committed my life to Jesus in 1994 and surrendered to ministry in 1998. Soon after graduating from Baptist Bible College in 2001, I met my wife Jen on a missions trip to the Bahamas. We were married in December of 2003 and have enjoyed both our life and ministry together.

Heroes: Jesus, the prophet Elijah and my dad.
